What are the selection criteria?
The area must receive at least 12,000 visitors annually or have a minimum revenue of $2 million pesos (verifiable) during 2024. This technology will help you increase revenues, manage tourism inflow efficiently, and improve the visitor experience.
The area must have at least one managed access point that has or can have Internet access, indispensable and with trained personnel for access management. This is essential for the successful implementation of this new technology.
Availability of the area's management team to dedicate at least 3 hours per week for approximately 3 months to the process of implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the system, considering intensive online training and field visits by the Reserva Natura team. Experience in the management of digital systems or willingness to acquire new technological skills, as expressed in their letter of interest, will be an asset.
The area should designate a team dedicated to the implementation of Reserva Natura, which will participate constantly and continuously in key activities such as training, management and follow-up. This is key to a successful process. It should be considered that during field visits a person from the area team should be designated to accompany the Reserva Natura team full time.
Basic skills in the use of electronic devices such as a computer or tablet and in surfing the Internet, and intermediate use of tools such as Google Drive, among others, since the implementation of the digital system will depend on the regular use of these tools.
The area must have a minimum and stable infrastructure with reliable electricity and internet, as well as an office, booth or adequate space for visitor check-in. Priority will be given to areas that meet these minimum requirements.
The area must have a bank account to receive the economic income generated through the Reserva Natura software, or propose a local partner that can manage the financial resources.
updated information on the legal entity or individual that will receive income from the Reserva Natura software.
The proposed management, conservation or climate action of the natural area will be evaluated in order to reinvest the income generated. This should be made clear in the application questionnaire. The clarity, feasibility and expected impact of such proposals will be evaluated. Likewise, the proposal will be monitored and strengthened during the process to ensure that it is fulfilled.
Priority will be given to areas that actively involve local communities in tourism management or tourism (ejidos, tourism committees, advisory councils, community-based enterprises, among others).
Priority will be given to areas that maintain participatory relationships with tour operators that offer services within the natural area, which should be evidenced through the application questionnaire and interview.
The current governance processes of the areas that include collaboration with key partners such as advisory councils, trusts, trustees, business associations or community organizations will be assessed.
